Born in Ottawa in 1946, Gordon Wright is a veteran of the Ontario art scene, painting and selling his art since 1966. A dedicated self-taught artist, Gordon looked to develop his own style and techniques, away from outside influence resulting in a style that is uniquely his. Gordon has sold in privately and in galleries, hosting local art exhibitions for over 40 years. Gordon has won multiple awards while painting with the Bells Corners Arts League between 1970 and 1980. However, his passion for art led him to draw some inspiration from some of his favourites in Canada’s art history such as Tom Roberts and A.J. Casson. His watercolour and oil paintings today have a distinct difference unique simplicity that has drawn in buyers across the country and United States. Gordon paints and lives by his motto: “Beauty flows out of simplicity.” His whimsical but minimalist landscape paintings of lakes, seascapes, country churches, rural villages and the country side that surrounds it all communicates a whimsical feeling that warms your soul. “My outlook for my work is I try to portray a feeling of purity and a true clean image and subject that will quiet ones soul. Each piece must stand alone as a unit by itself without clutter and fuss. An honest clean approach to a subject is all that matters.” Today he paints from his home on the beautiful Kennebec Lake near Arden, Ontario.
