Natalya kuzmina

BIO

Natalya Kuzmina loves colour. She describes it as a passion and inspiration, drawn to colour’s ability to evoke passion, emotion, moods and intrigues. The ability for colour to suggest in the abstract, while maintaining the mystery for the audience to ponder on viewing. This philosophy is clearly influenced in her work. Painting primarily with oil, she has become a master at manipulating it. She loves the colours, the texture, the endless possibilities and even the smell that oil paints offer. While often choosing to paint still life, she intends to turn the audience’s perception inward to re-evaluate these familiar symbols of everyday living. This is a key aspect of her work, its deep layers of influence surpassing what is represented on a surface level. Natalya’s figurative work pulls on Greek mythology and Biblical themes, evoking dreams, memories, myths and mystical thought. Her landscape work express a fairy tale like quality, blurring fantasy and reality together. She strives to not recreate the world, but to share her perception of its inner essence. “If you like the work of art – it means that you connect with the artist on some level – you share the same feeling or thought. You'll understand instantly what artist is trying to tell you. I think that the ability to create something beautiful and to share it with others, to touch another soul is the best part of being an artist. And the fact that somebody enjoys the results of my work makes this experience truly special.”
